During his career, William Seward was no stranger to the importance of journalism in public life, nor to the realities of hyper-partisan entanglements within the Fourth Estate. Beloved by Whig newspapers, denounced in Democratic presses, and often challenged by independent reporters, Seward navigated it all. A century and a half later, the Seward House Museum is pleased to welcome Jami Floyd to help us navigate the state of the news and politics today. The host of NPR’s popular “All Things Considered” program in WNYC in New York City, Floyd is one of the country’s leading journalists.

Join us for a First Friday reception! Enjoy complimentary refreshments, a gift shop exhibit titled CNY Impressions by Auburn painter Tom Hussey who is best known for his renderings of the Northeast landscape, music by Salvatore Lee, and docents interpreting the dining and drawing rooms. Salvatore is a singer/songwriter/musician from Auburn who sings covers and original songs of many genres such as reggae, alternative rock, hip-hop, and soul.

For the seventh annual Parlor Music Concert, the Seward House Museum is pleased to welcome pianist Howard Spindler and tenor Pablo Willey-Bustos. From the magnificent setting of the Museum’s Drawing Room, and enhanced by its 1872 Steinway piano, the duo's performance will transport listeners across the musical landscape of the 19th century. The program will feature songs by American and European composers, as well as solo piano works.
