Bring your lunch and learn some history in the Seward House Museum gardens! Although Judge Elijah Miller is often discussed on Seward House Museum tours, it is mostly in his capacity for building the original dwelling and raising Frances Miller Seward at 33 South Street. Yet he also played a role in the construction of Auburn Prison. Join Executive Director of the Cayuga Museum, Eileen McHugh, for a discussion of Miller’s other enduring legacy: more than two hundred years of history at Auburn Prison.

Join us for a First Friday reception! Enjoy a live summer concert in the gardens by the Primates, as well as an art exhibit by Ryan O'Hara. O'Hara is the graphic designer of all of the Primates' gig posters, as well as several other bands around Auburn.

As always, guests are invited into the Museum to view the Parlor and Library, with docents on hand to answer questions and interpret the spaces. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

This event is free and open to the public.

Happy Fourth of July!

Mr. Seward’s Junior Detective League tour is designed especially for four and five year olds. Led by retired teachers, this unique experience offers children the chance to explore the first floor of the Museum, following clues that lead to distinctive artifacts.

The return of an Auburn summer classic! Elementary school aged children are invited to join Camp Seward, a day camp that transports them back into the Victorian era. Popular features of this immersive tradition include playing Town Ball (a baseball-like game) with the Auburn Doubledays, being served a full Victorian high tea and luncheon by costumed “members” of the Seward family, and going behind the scenes to explore untold stories from the Seward House Museum.
