Volunteer & Intern

Seward House Museum offers a variety of opportunities for individuals interested in volunteering. Volunteer placement is made based on an individual’s interests, experience, abilities, availability, and on current volunteer openings. To volunteer, contact info@sewardhouse.org. Download a copy of the volunteer application:  Volunteer Application.

The Museum provides an excellent opportunity for students to immerse themselves in museum operations and strengthen their professional skills. The application deadline for our Summer Internship Program is April 21st. For more information contact Director of Education, Jeffrey Ludwig, education@sewardhouse.org.
Internship Description

Volunteers and interns assist the Museum staff in the following capacities:

Tour Guides

Provide guided tours through the home. A wonderful way to share your love of history with others.

The Front Desk Volunteer

Volunteers greet guests, monitor program attendance, help serve refreshments, escort visitors, and perform other duties as needed. Volunteers assist staff at occasional daytime, evening and weekend programs and events.

Teen Volunteers

Volunteers gain valuable work experience as they help staff the Information Desk on Saturdays and during the summer. Teen volunteers also assist staff with education programs during the summer months.

Garden Gurus

Garden volunteers help with the maintenance and care of  our large grounds. Green thumbs are welcome to adopt a bed and make it their own and, for those with not so green thumbs, we are always looking for people to help water and weed. Our garden volunteers are welcome to come and go at their convenience and/or participate in scheduled garden clean-up days. The museum has tools available for use but recommends that you bring your own hand tools and gloves.  This is a wonderful volunteer activity for the whole family.
