Thomas Slaughter's new book unveils the inner lives of the Sewards, tracing their joys and sorrows as the nation grappled deepening divisions on its path to the Civil War. Slaughter directed the Seward Family Digital Archive Project and is Professor of History Emeritus at the University of Rochester.

Join Samuel Tamburo - an Auburn attorney, SHM tour guide, and volunteer historian for the final Lunchtime Lecture of 2025. His talk will use primary sources to guide us through Mr. Seward's striving for this highest political office in government. This event will take place at the SHM Event Center (Barn) and is FREE and open to the public.

Lazette Worden, older sister to Frances Seward, endured a difficult marriage, returned to Auburn, and built a home named “Pisgah” along the Underground Railroad. Shellie Clark Dolan, whose doctoral dissertation uncovered the careers of these remarkable women, shares more about Lazette’s legacy. This event will take place at the SHM Event Center (Barn) and is FREE and open to the public.

After the success of the Seward House Museum's annual Fanny Seward Girl Scout Day for Brownies and Juniors, demand for a similar program for older scouts emerged. For the first time, we welcome Cadettes and Seniors to the Museum for a fun day of learning centered around Fanny Seward. Fanny is known for her love of reading and writing, so this one-day program will focus on the Book Artist and Novelist badges. If you are a scout interested in history, bookbinding, or creative writing, this is the event for you!
