Vineyards & Vaults: The Italian Tour

For one evening only, just 25 guests will be welcomed into an intimate experience that blends extraordinary wines with extraordinary history.

Inspired by William Seward’s travels through Italy, this exclusive tasting journey pairs six exceptional wines with the stories, writings, and artifacts that chronicle Seward’s Italian tour. Guided by Jack Sherman acting as sommelier, guests will discover how wine, culture, art, and diplomacy intertwined during Seward’s travels. Between pours, SHM Director of Education Jeff Ludwig will share stories from Seward’s journals and correspondence, complemented by objects from the Museum’s collection.

Featured selections include distinguished wines from Apulia, Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto, Sicily, and Campania. Vineyards and Vaults offers far more than a wine tasting—it is a rare opportunity to experience history through the senses.
