Lunchtime Lecture Series: William Seward’s Madisonian Roots
Jul 17th 2026 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
As a young man, William Seward described himself as a “Madisonian.” But what did the legacy of James Madison actually mean to Seward? How did he understand the contributions of this Founder and how did his thinking change and evolve? Former SHM staff member Alyssa Morris—now Guest Services Manager at James Madison’s Montpelier—will discuss Madison’s complicated legacy as part of the America 250 commemoration.
This event will take place at the SHM Event Center and is FREE and open to the public.
