Printing Plates: William Henry Seward's Autobiography

These printing plates, stored in the Museum's basement, appear to be made out of solid lead and are stored in about 45 wooden crates. Includes the first volume, "Autobiography of William H. Seward, from 1801 to 1834: With a Memoir of His Life, and Selections from His Letters from 1831 to 1846," was published in 1877, followed by two more volumes in 1891, "Seward at Washington, as Senator and Secretary of State. A Memoir of His Life, and Selections from His Letters. 1846-1861," and "Seward at Washington, as Senator and Secretary of State. A Memoir of His Life, and Selections from His Letters. 1861 to 1872."
